With all the smartphones being discarded there could be an opportunity to perform battery transplanting. Many of the smartphones have cracked screens and the battery, (cell), will probably still be usable.

When a small quantity of unacceptable foreign matter is introduced into a large quantity of known and required quality we call it dilution but when the quantity of introduced matter becomes too large we call it pollution.
